Heading WEST! Serra de Tramuntana – Nature Lover’s Paradise!

Von |2017-11-12T11:41:32+01:00September 11th, 2016|Kategorien: Islas Baleares, Mallorca|

"I wanted freedom, open air and adventure. I found it on the sea." The west coast of Mallorca is beautiful and mountainous, with just one port of call - Soller. The north west of the island is home to the fascinating Serra de Tramuntana mountain landscape that is perfect for hikers and cyclists. The 100-kilometre mountain range runs parallel to the coast from the town of Andratx to the Cape of Formentor and has been a place of refuge for writers and painters for many years. Indeed, one of Majorca's greatest charms is how the landscape shifts from mountain to wide sandy beaches in the blink of an eye.Beyond sailing, you can spend a couple of days discovering some of the most charming towns and villages on the island within a small area: Valldemossa (with its pretty Carthusian monastery where Chopin and George Sand stayed), Deià (do not miss the views from the gardens of Son Marroig) and Sóller (did you know there is a period train with traditional wooden carriages that links Palma and Sóller on a track through mountains and valleys?). Enjoy........and maybe there would be time for a trip to the famous dragon island, La Dragonera, off the south western tip of Majorca. Our next leg: BARCELONA! All in all, it was a never-to-be-forgotten sailing summer ! Life is like a camera. Just focus on what’s important, capture the good times, develop from the negatives, and if things don’t turn out – take another shot.Barcelona, here we come!

Kleine Gassen [...]

THE HIDDEN BEACH: CALA MARMOLS

Von |2017-11-12T11:41:32+01:00Juli 23rd, 2016|Kategorien: Islas Baleares, Mallorca|

Mallorca is very well-known for its beaches. However, some of them tend to get too packed. You should go to Cala Marmols, which is a white sandy beach on the Eastern coast. It’s a tiny beach surrounded by cliffs. It is so small that, although it is not very famous, it can get busy during the high season. The local tip is to go around 6pm. The Sun is still high and tourists leave for dinner. You might even be able to have the beach to yourself! Free anchorage....It’s a lengthy hike to get there all the way from Cap de ses Salines, but the trail follows the coastline, so you’ll get to see some of the most fantastic views on the island.

Glitzerndes Sonnenlicht [...]

Sailing round Mallorca: Five top anchorage spots in Mallorca!

Von |2017-11-12T11:41:32+01:00Juli 5th, 2016|Kategorien: Islas Baleares, Mallorca|

1. AndratxThe south-west tip of the island, Andratx is just around the coast from Palma and provides the perfect pit stop on your journey around the island after a day’s sailing. With endless restaurants in Puerto Andratx, anchor down in the bay overlooked by the splendid villa Princess Diana once holidayed at and prepare to experience the most incredible sunset you’ve ever seen.2. Port de SóllerA few hours sailing north of Andratx, Soller is about half way up the west coast of the island allowing you to enjoy stunning scenes and traditional vibes.Along the north-west coast, bob into Port de Sóller before you head around the northern tip. If you were to berth anywhere, Sóller offers an inexpensive spot for the night.3. FormentorThe highlight for us? After dinner one night we were admiring a fellow Oyster in the bay when a beautiful (and rather large) dolphin popped up to say hello. She then continued to play with our anchor line for ten fascinating minutes while we tried (and failed) to take pictures. Maybe next time – Formentor is known for dolphin spotting.Formentor offers a secluded beach and an exclusive hotel that you can’t access unless you’re a guest. The beach restaurant isn’t as good as expected and sunbeds are expensive, but absolutely worth the visit.4. PollencaWhizz across the bay (James Bond style) in the tender, stroll along the waterfront and make the most of the slow paced village. Cute cafes, great scuba and fishing shops and helpful transport links to the rest of the island. A dreamy promenade, an opportunity for the crew to visit a supermarket and a lovely night market.5. Es TrencThe most amazing beach you’ll ever see. Pardon the nudists and you’ll love it. The last stop on our lap around the island before returning to Palma, Es Trenc [...]

Palma – Enjoying life at anchor!

"Dear Ocean! Thank you for making us feel humble, inspired & salty all at once." Bliss. Es war wunderbar relaxt und ganz kurz, nur 7 Stunden....und jetzt:Ready to go! Italien gegen Deutschland. Here we are, back again. Hello, lovely, cool & trendy Marina Santa Eulalia!

Von |2017-11-12T11:41:47+01:00Juni 28th, 2016|Kategorien: Ibiza, Islas Baleares|

Bye, bye beautiful Formentera, we are back in Santa Eulalia! We do think this is the best part of Ibiza. Santa Eulalia  - great beaches, stunning  beach clubs, awesome shops, delicious cocktails, smooth tunes & fab people watching. Bliss.    Ibiza is stuffed with cool things to do this month and right at the top of the list of places to go is Santa Eulalia’s Babylon Beach.Homemade and gluten free cuisine from breakfast until late at night! Oh and they grow their own organic fruit and vegetables, right here on the island too. They also have a very nice onsite boutique, presided over by the extremely stylish Kate and stuffed with a glamorous range of boho-chic fashion that’s ideal for that classically Bohemian Ibiza look. This lady really knows her Ibiza fashion. Coming soon:Sailing from Ibiza to Mallorca !and now: A mini guide for you!THE BEST BEACHES Sunset Ashram, Cala ComteThe most beautiful sunset of your life? Go enjoy it on a deck chair, with your favorite drink, here at Sunset Ashram. During the day, this is also an excellent place to swim in clear, tranquil waters.Cala d’HortThe sole fact that it was added to the protected area list in 2002 should be a good reason to go. If you add white, untouched beaches to that, this bay definitely deserves a visit. Just make sure you’re ready for the walk you need to have to go there, all the way down a narrow, steep path!Playa d’En BossaThis is no doubt the most crowded beach on the island, because it’s very long, surely, but also because here is the highest club concentration of the entire island. This is where you’ll find the coolest nightlife of the island. One example? The infamous Bora Bora!Cala San VicenteProbably one of the lesser known beaches, and not for a lack of beauty… Actually not at [...]

Paradise found!

We are back in paradise for several days. Formentera, we love youuuuu! Blue Bar, Platja MigjornOn top of a dune, with a magnificent view of the sea and unforgettable sunsets!Cala SaonaA pristine and pretty cove with crystal clear water and warm Autumnal colors to the surrounding rocks. Again if you want to argue it out over a beer, possibly the best anchorage in Formentera to watch the sunset. Beautiful clear water, great snorkelling, and fab beach bars. We had a great sundowner session: plenty of drinks whilst watching the sun go down. And to finish it off, night caps on Victoria under a stunning, bright moon. This is an unusual place and we'll be hard pushed to find another spot like it. If you ever get the chance to visit Formentera - you won't be disappointed. There's something about this island that we really do enjoy.....perhaps it takes us back to our youth. It is definitely one of the last best kept secrets of Europe and the most stunning island I have been so far. Caribbean like white sandy shores and azure blue waters, plenty of privacy, fantastic seafood ... and super yachts everywhere!

Sailing through the night! Is it scary or exhilarating?

Cruising the Med, round Ibiza and Formentera, living onboard … Is it all it’s cracked up to be ? Is it for you?

The Dream:Imagine waking up to a view of the turquoise Mediterranean ocean every morning? A stunning setting with ocean views and blue and natural tones ! For those of us who live and sail in colder climates the thought of sailing to, and then cruising the Mediterranean has long held appeal. Miserable winter weather in Germany start focusing the mind on the possibilities of new cruising grounds. Picturesque Mediterranean harbours, with rows of gleaming yachts and powerboats moored stern to the quay and bustling colourful restaurants complete the picture. It is all too easy to come to the conclusion that THIS would be an enjoyable and worthwhile way to spend a few years.Living on board a boat in the Mediterranean is NOT the same as a chartering holiday or a good coastal cruise. Holiday cruises and charters come to an end, and the happy event can be mulled over in the comfort of your own home later.Living on board your boat is a tough option (even in the Mediterranean climate), in practice far removed from the image most people have of it. It truly can be a very satisfying and healthy way of life, but requires commitment and dedication...If you do decide to try living on your boat and cruising the Mediterranean you'll have a much better chance of enjoying it rather regretting it (and often losing large sums of money in the process).Living on board your own boat, and spending lots of time at anchor (either because of the heat or to save money), involves lots of dinghy work and much heavy lugging. If you want to have a little taster of this, go and get all your shopping by hand from a shop about a mile away, double the weight by carrying a minimum of 8 L of drinking water a day [...]

The reward for a long journey! Formentera.

Pura Vida! Formentera offers a caribbean style coastline....Formentera is the least inhabited of the Balearic islands and has a flat landscape with long, beautiful beaches of immaculate white sand.  The island gives the impression of a nature reserve. Only 12 by 4 miles in size, you could easily sail around this Spanish island in one day. Check out the magic of Formentera...The best anchorage is Espalmador, a private island with a lovely sheltered beach, plenty of sand and turquoise waters. If the wind swings to the west you'll need to be on the eastern side of the island – Es Pujols has a lot of sand but don't venture too close in.Same goes for Es Calo or the bay just west of La Savina (called either Sa Pedrera by the locals or Ensenada de Cabrita in many guide books). There is not much sand here, mainly rock & weed, but the Balearic Islands authorities have put free mooring buoys down for the last 2 years.
For a more active sailing itinerary you could include a day sail from Ibiza to Palma Bay in Mallorca, overnight there with visiting Palma and returning the next day.

2. Jede Welle rauscht anders an.

Babylon Beach! Relaxed vibe….in paradise!

Everyone needs a little Ibiza in their life....Wow! My new favourite hangout: Babylon Beach – Santa Eulalia!!!Beautiful decor, incredible food, what a view & good music....relaxed vibe! This cool waterfront bar has become a firm favourite hangout for hipsters in the North.  The stylish driftwood decor, stunning views and extensive cocktail list make it the perfect place to spend a lazy Ibiza day. Speaking of the sea, for those who prefer to arrive by boat, mooring and tender facilities happily accommodate lunchtime landing. Then after the sun goes down, the Babylon Beach continues after dark, with special events including full moon parties and impromptu musical performances, taking place until late.

Is this love-is this love-is this love that Im feeling? Bob Marley was probably referring to a hippie when he sang this song.

The Hippie movement that began in the 1960s has become more than just that. Its a lifestyle, its hope and its now almost a religion. Non-conformism is their motto and peace is their means towards a better world. Hippies are arguably the happiest people in the world. And not just because of the marijuana and the music. They are not bound by societal expectations and refuse to be a part of the rat race that the rest of the world seems to have embraced. They're not slaves of ambition, greed and materialism, and prefer to live in a simple world that is close to nature.  More and more people across the world are going towards the hippie way of life, shunning the commercial, consumerist world.Feeling like a bohemian and experience how it is to be a hippie for a few days? Freedom, peace and happiness are in abundance at these places. Be warned you might never want to return home!Ibiza is not just for party-crazed teenagers in blaring nightclubs. Ibiza has been a hot hippie destination since the 60s and still sees many hippie travelers throughout the year. Even though it has become an overcrowded party island, the natural walking trails and whimsical architecture make it a much coveted hippie place.Hippie destinations are all heart and are blessed with natures bounty. Theyre full of free spirited people and welcome travelers with much warmth and compassion. The feeling of being a hippie is summed up really well by John LennonImagine no possessionsI wonder if you canNo need for greed or hungerA brotherhood of manImagine all the peopleSharing all the world...
