Sailserver tracks all your sailing activity automatically and makes it easy to share it with your friends. The system is so easy to install and keeps a detailed logbook online. In addition, you can setup anchor alarms, when you leave your boat and get an alert in case the boat will drift.
The product was invented by Jorg Ulrich Hansen, a passionate sailor who experienced the demand and build the system. The company is based in Denmark.
The installation is plug and plug. You need to connect the system only to the NMEA2000 bus on your vessel. It will take the power from the NMEA bus and there is no need to add extra power cables. In terms of power consumption, the system will draw 90mA at 12V, which is 1,1W and therefore very power efficient.
The system is always online
The system is always online and has a build in SIM card. You do not need to worry about connectivity and extra subscription cost. When you buy the product the cloud service and SIM card subscription is included. I installed the system under deck and the system has no connectivity problems. In case you sail to fare offshore without mobile coverage, Sailserver will continue to log all the data on the system and upload the data to the cloud when the system will be able to automatically re-connected. Since the installation is so easy it might be an option to take a Sailserver along on your next charter trip.
Here are some details from our first week testing the system – its so easy and great:
After you have registered your Sailserver at www.sailserver.com the system will be online. You will be able to control your recorded data and decide the details you want share and with whom. You could share an online link to your data in the cloud with your friends or publish the data about your trips via social media. All your friends and followers can track your progress and view the details in real time or later. You will stay in control of your online data, with the privacy settings you can decide what you would like to share.
Remote anchor watch
Another useful feature is the alert function since the system is online all the time. You can set alarms on a drift range on anchor, depth change or change of wind conditions. This will allow you to enjoy your discoveries on land and keep an eye on your boat at anchor.
Last but not least offers Sailserver a community. You can search and find other Sailserver users via the virtual clubhouse and connect.
Our feedback about Sailserver
Sailserver is great, easy to install and fully automated. You record your journey and share it with friends, and you do not need to do anything. It is hassle free and has no hidden extra cost for usage, cloud or data connectivity. We installed the system on Ambra and tested it now for our first trips of the season and we love the system.
The price is EUR 469 including the cloud service and SIM card for 10 years. The NMEA cable is included as well.
In addition, you will need a free NMEA 2000 port on your NMEA system on board. In case you have no free NMEA port you will need another T-connector to extend the network for the Sailserver. Sailserver will offer the NMEA cable with the product and you can buy longer NMEA cables and T-Connectors directly from Sailserver online shop as well.
